How to plan camper AC, insulation, ventilation and electrical capacity for high UAE temperatures without oversizing or under-powering the system.
Air-conditioning a camper in the UAE is primarily an energy and insulation problem. The AC unit is only one part of the system.
Reduce heat before adding more AC
Roof and wall insulation, window coverage, ventilation, reflective surfaces and shade can reduce the cooling load. Poor insulation forces the AC and battery system to work harder.
Decide how the AC will be powered
Shore power, generator, alternator charging, solar and lithium batteries all have different limits. Running AC from batteries requires careful calculation of energy consumption, inverter capacity and charging time.
Plan for real operating conditions
A system that works well in mild weather may behave very differently in peak summer. Define whether the camper will be occupied while driving, parked in shade, connected to mains power or expected to run fully off-grid.
